A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…
EDGE OF THE EMPIRE
Episode I: Simple Tricks And Nonsense
It is a dark time for the galaxy. Striking from their hidden base, the Rebel Alliance has destroyed the evil Galactic Empire’s powerful DEATH STAR. Now, Imperial forces strike back, throwing the galaxy into war.
In the midst of conflict, countless planets suffer under Imperial tyranny, and many flee oppression to build new lives beyond the bounds of civilization.
On the edge of the Empire, these renegades struggle to remain free amidst the ongoing turmoil…
The crew of the Runner’s High, on a haul to Ryloth carrying a variety of cargo, also carried a shipment of blaster rifles to be delivered to Nawara Sivron in exchange for a shipment of Ryll. This delivery was being conducted on behalf of their contact on Corellia, Crix Donos.
Upon exiting hyperspace in the Ryloth system, they encountered the ISB Star Destroyer Vigilant and were compelled to submit to an inspection. They were boarded by a contingent of Naval Troopers led by a smug fellow by the name of Kinall who upon finding no contraband, but being aware that the crew were not being honest about their business on Ryloth, attempted to solicit a “fee” from them.
Dax Andari, a former Imperial officer himself, correctly identified the attempt. Citing the Imperial Revenue Code, Dax identified soliciting a bribe for personal gain as a Class 2 offense, which exposed its illegal nature much to the Inspector’s great embarassment. Upon being shamed in front of his Troopers, he allowed them to leave unmolested, but not before having a surveillance device attached to the hull of their ship in retaliation.
The crew thereafter proceeded to their rendezvous with Siv and his men, but quickly noticed the device attached to their ship and attempted to disrupt its surveillance capacities. This disruption was noted by the authorities, who had also been monitoring the Twi’lek as suspected members of the resistance on that planet, and they promptly attempted to lock down the hanger and dispatched two squads of Imperial Stormtroopers to arrest the group.
Thinking quickly, the crew took Sivron and his men aboard and blasted through the enclosed hangar bay, intending to escape the trap. They were pursued by a flight of Imperial TIEs but defeated them in short order, jumping into hyperspace in the direction of nearby Tatooine.
